Balance Principle Math Example 1
Follow the full solution, then compare it with the other examples linked below.
Example 1
easySolve \(x + 7 = 15\) using the balance principle.
Solution
- 1 An equation is like a balance scale โ both sides must stay equal.
- 2 To isolate \(x\), subtract 7 from both sides.
- 3 \(x + 7 - 7 = 15 - 7\).
- 4 \(x = 8\).
- 5 Check: \(8 + 7 = 15\) โ
Answer
\(x = 8\)
The balance principle: whatever you do to one side, do to the other. Subtract 7 from both sides to keep the equation balanced.
About Balance Principle
The rule that any operation applied to one side of an equation must also be applied to the other side to preserve equality.
