Square vs Cube Intuition Math Example 4
Follow the full solution, then compare it with the other examples linked below.
Example 4
mediumA square garden has area 49 m². A cubic storage box has volume 125 cm³. Find the side length of each.
Solution
- 1 Garden: \(x^2 = 49 \Rightarrow x = \sqrt{49} = 7\) m.
- 2 Box: \(x^3 = 125 \Rightarrow x = \sqrt[3]{125} = 5\) cm.
Answer
Garden side = 7 m; Box side = 5 cm
Reversing squaring uses square roots; reversing cubing uses cube roots.
