Example 4
hardJuice costs \3.8416\ for fl oz. Which is the better deal per fluid ounce?
Solution
- 1 Unit price of the small bottle: \3.84 \div 16 = \ per fl oz.
- 2 Unit price of the large bottle: \5.10 \div 30 = \ per fl oz.
- 3 Compare: \0.17 < \, so the fl oz bottle is the better deal.
Answer
Computing the unit price (cost per one unit) of each option allows a fair comparison regardless of package size. The option with the lower unit price gives more value for money.
