Example 3

easy
A wave has a period of 0.02ย s0.02 \text{ s}. What is its frequency?

Solution

  1. 1
    Frequency is the reciprocal of period.
  2. 2
    f=1T=10.02=50ย Hzf = \frac{1}{T} = \frac{1}{0.02} = 50 \text{ Hz}

Answer

f=50ย Hzf = 50 \text{ Hz}
Period and frequency are inversely related: f=1/Tf = 1/T. A shorter period means a higher frequency.
