Electric Current Physics Example 3

Follow the full solution, then compare it with the other examples linked below.

Example 3

easy
How long does it take for 15ย C15 \text{ C} of charge to flow through a circuit with a current of 3ย A3 \text{ A}?

Solution

  1. 1
    Rearrange Q=ItQ = It for time.
  2. 2
    t=QI=153=5ย st = \frac{Q}{I} = \frac{15}{3} = 5 \text{ s}

Answer

t=5ย st = 5 \text{ s}
Current, charge, and time are related by I=Q/tI = Q/t. Knowing any two quantities allows calculation of the third.
